MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was airlifted to a hospital and another was taken into custody after a dispute turned violent in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.

Exclusive video captured deputies taking a man into custody, who was wearing a blue polo shirt and has gray hair.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 5:50 p.m. to the 5400 block of Northwest 192nd Lane, where they found a man suffering from a major laceration to his leg.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Deputies also took another man into custody at the scene.

According to investigators, the two men were involved in a verbal argument that escalated when the man in custody got into a vehicle and struck the victim, causing the injury.

One nearby resident said he heard a different version of what happened from other eyewitnesses.

According to Zakary Garner, the man who was arrested was acting in self-defense.

Garner said the man was sitting inside his truck when another neighbor approached him with a pole and began striking the vehicle’s headlight. He said the driver then tried to leave the area, but the other man remained attached to the truck.

Garner said the truck later crashed into a parked vehicle down the street, causing the man’s injuries.

“The person who was arrested for sure, they’re gonna process him, he’s gonna spend a few nights in jail, but once they get the story and realize he did that out of self-defense because he felt like his life was threatened, they’re gonna let that old man out,” Garner said.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed that version of events and said the investigation remains ongoing.
