FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Two women faced charges on Wednesday in Broward County after police officers accused them of attacking a mother and her three kids, records show.
The neighbors in Fort Lauderdale’s Lake Aire - Palm View neighborhood got into an argument in the hallway about Grenajha Gadson’s son “being touched,” according to a police officer’s arrest report.
A mother and her three kids told police officers that they were inside their apartment, near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, when Gadson, 27, and Bryanna Womble broke in, according to the report.
After “kicking the door open,” Womble, 35, punched the mother, and Gadson, 27, punched an 11-year-old girl “when she tried to take her mom’s phone to call for help,” according to the report.
Gadson also “mushed and punched” the girl’s 10-year-old sibling, who tried to defend her, according to police. And when a 7-year-old boy tried to defend his mother, Womble kicked him in the chest, according to police.
Police officers arrested Gadson and Womble on Monday in Fort Lauderdale, and corrections booked them at the Broward County Main Jail, where they remained without bond Wednesday afternoon, records show.
Gadson faced three counts of burglary with assault or battery. Womble faced two counts of burglary with assault or battery.
