MIAMI — Former NFL star Antonio Brown appeared in a Miami-Dade courtroom on Friday as his house arrest conditions were modified in connection with his 2025 attempted murder case.
Brown, 37, faces an attempted second-degree murder charge in connection with a shooting that authorities say followed an underground boxing match in Miami’s Little Haiti area on May 16, 2025. On Friday, he was at courthouse for a procedural matter.
Video captured Brown in a hallway using his cellphone, and court observers said it appeared he was interacting with social media.
His defense attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, explained that Brown’s house arrest monitoring is changing now that he has returned to Miami.
“He’s been on house arrest since his arrest, but he was monitored by a private company because he was in Tampa,” Eiglarsh said. “Now that he’s back in Miami, the Miami house arrest unit can now service him.”
In footage obtained by Local 10 News from a courtyard parking area around 11:55 p.m. on the day of the incident, authorities said Brown is seen punching a man, Zul-Qarnain Kwame, triggering a fight that draws in multiple people. The video shows the confrontation escalating into a three-on-one situation involving Brown before security intervenes. Brown can then be seen kicking a security guard as the scene is broken up.
Police said Brown was not arrested the night of the incident because they were unable to locate a victim at the scene.
An arrest warrant was issued the following month, in June, while Brown was in Dubai. U.S. Marshals later took him into custody overseas and returned him to Miami-Dade County.
Eiglarsh told Local 10 that he believes Brown was acting in self-defense. The next step in the case is a scheduled “Stand Your Ground” hearing.
