BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — First responders rushed to the aid of a dog in need of an unusual rescue in Boynton Beach.
According to officials, the dog fell about 10 feet into a confined space inside a lift station filled with around two feet of raw sewage on Thursday.
After arriving and assessing the situation, rescuers said they upgraded the incident to a Special Operations confined space rescue.
A firefighter who was lowered into the station rescued the dog in under five minutes, and both made it out safely, officials said.
Authorities said the dog was decontaminated, provided oxygen and then reunited to its owner.
