MIAMI — A high-ranking Miami police officer is in trouble with the law again.
Miami Police Department Lt. Thomas Carroll, 49, was arrested on a driving under the influence charge and booked into jail early Sunday morning, an agency spokesperson said.
Jail records showed that he also faced a charge of refusing a breathalyzer test after license suspension.
He quickly bonded out of jail.
An MPD spokesperson said Carroll "has been relieved of duty pending the outcome" of an internal investigation.
Additional details about his arrest were not immediately available Sunday night.
Carroll made headlines in late 2024 when he was arrested in a domestic violence case.
That case no longer appears in Miami-Dade court records.
