PLANTATION, Fla. — A child was hospitalized Saturday after being found unresponsive in a pool in Broward County.
It happened at a home along the 4600 block of West Broward Boulevard in Plantation around 7:46 p.m.
According to police, a 4-year-old boy was pulled from the water and an adult at the scene began performing CPR until first responders arrived.
Plantation Fire Rescue rushed the boy to Broward Health Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition, authorities said.
Police said an investigation remains ongoing.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is offering the public several water safety tips to help save a child from drowning.
They include always having a responsible adult watching, closely and constantly supervising young kids near the water and avoiding any distractions.
Officials also warn to keep small children within arm’s reach and to install child proof fencing while stressing the importance of teaching children to swim or float, having rescue equipment and a phone nearby to call 911 and learning CPR.
