NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a crash in North Miami that left a motorcyclist dead Tuesday morning.
According to North Miami police, the crash occurred in the area of Northwest 135th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Police said a motorcycle and SUV collided in the area, and the motorcyclist died from his or her injuries.
A witness told Local 10’s Jeff Derderian that the motorcyclist was at fault.
“Didn’t look,” Steve Antoine said. “The guy in the white car had the green light -- he was clear to go. The other guy must have been late for work or something -- jumped out into the road and he actually hit the car.”
Antoine said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. It’s unclear whether speed was a factor in the crash.
North Miami police confirmed that they are “handling the traffic crash,” while the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is conducting a traffic homicide investigation.
No other details were immediately released.
