NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Medics took five people to area hospitals after a crash Friday morning on Northeast 163rd Street in North Miami Beach. One victim later died, according to police.
The crash happened near Northeast 34th Avenue.
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, three of the victims were taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital’s trauma center, while two victims with minor injuries were taken to an unnamed local hospital.
North Miami Beach police said just before noon that one of the hospitalized victims, a woman described as a senior, later died.
Two others were “were assessed on scene and had no complaints,” an MDFR spokesperson said.
One of the victims had been trapped in one of the vehicles, according to MDFR.
Video from Sky 10 showed two vehicles involved, with MDFR and North Miami Beach police at the scene.
Police shut down traffic on the westbound lanes of the road coming out of Sunny Isles Beach.
