CUTLER BAY, Fla. — A man stabbed another man in the neck over the weekend after the victim tried to intervene when he saw the suspect arguing with a woman, who deputies later identified as the suspect’s wife, authorities said.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 19600 block of South Dixie Highway.
Deputies said the suspect, Michael Artidiello, 35, and the victim, both of whom are homeless, have known each other for about two months.
They said the men were in the rear parking lot of Fortis College Saturday when Artidiello got into an argument with his wife.
According to the report, the victim tried to intervene and a physical altercation ensued between him and Artidiello.
Artidiello then pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the neck, causing a cut to his trachea, the report stated.
Deputies said Artidiello then carried the victim across the street to HCA Florida Cutler Bay Emergency.
The victim was then transported to Jackson South Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Deputies said Artidiello remained at the hospital until deputies arrived and took him into custody. His wife did not remain at the hospital.
According to the report, Artidiello provided some kind of admission, although his exact statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
He was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
As of Monday morning, Artidiello was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
