FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A competition for lifeguards is happening this week in Fort Lauderdale.
More than 1,000 of the best professional and junior lifeguards are taking part in the 2026 National Lifeguard Championships.
The competition will run for several days and is “designed to test the same swimming, running, paddling, rescue and lifesaving skills lifeguards use every day to protect beachgoers,” according to organizers.
Local 10’s Jason Carter was there, and his full report can be seen at the top of this page.
