MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 17-year-old boy is facing five adult felonies in Miami-Dade County ― including two counts of attempted murder ― in connection with two armed robberies in bathrooms and a shots fired incident at a rural Redland farmstand, according to court documents.
Jencarlos Gamez was initially arrested on July 21, two days after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said he opened fire during a fracas at The Berry Farms, located at 13720 SW 216th St., but he was set to appear in court on new adult charges on Wednesday morning.
Before the Berry Farms incident, Gamez, who lives in the unincorporated South Miami Heights area, is accused of joining others in group armed robberies on Dec. 13, 2025 at a McDonald’s at 12185 SW 26th St. and on July 8 at Eureka Park, located at 18320 SW 119th Ave.
According to arrest reports, in both cases, a co-defendant asked an unsuspecting victim to hang out and then lured them into the bathroom, where the group robbed them of their belongings.
Deputies said the Berry Farms shots incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on July 19.
They said one group attacked another and Gamez eventually opened fire during the melee.
Video clips from the incident, according to an arrest report, showed Gamez “running towards the group of victims while holding a firearm pointed at them,” then “being struck by an individual and falling onto the ground” and then “getting up from the ground, picking (up) an object from the (ground), which is immediately followed by the sound of a gunshot.”
Besides the attempted murder charges, court records show Gamez is facing felony counts of armed robbery and aggravated battery, as well as misdemeanor charges of discharging a firearm in public and minor in possession of a firearm.
As of Wednesday morning, he was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center, where records show he was booked on Tuesday evening.
