NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A fifth suspect wanted in connection with a North Lauderdale shooting that authorities say left a 19-year-old man dead and another person injured earlier this year has been extradited to Broward County.
Investigators said Matthew Holloway, 21, surrendered to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Monticello, Florida, on Sunday and was extradited to Broward County on Wednesday.
Holloway faces one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted felony murder in connection with the May 8 shooting near the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court, according to jail records.
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office said they responded to reports of a shooting at around 1 a.m. and found 19-year-old O’Mari Doe inside a 2020 Ford Mustang suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They said Doe was airlifted to Broward Health North, where he later died.
Authorities said 20-year-old Maurice Vorroto was found outside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
According to investigators, Doe, Vorroto and two other people were inside the Mustang when five suspects arrived in a black Honda Accord. Witnesses told detectives that the suspects got out of the vehicle armed with handguns and fired multiple shots into the Mustang before fleeing.
A Fort Lauderdale police officer later spotted the Honda Accord, leading to a pursuit. The suspects eventually abandoned the vehicle near the 900 block of Southwest 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale.
Authorities previously arrested Aamir Dennard Adams, 19; Anthony Adams, 18; Amari Adams, 16; and Romayne Smith, 17, in connection with the shooting.
Detectives later identified Holloway as the fifth suspect and sought the public’s help locating him through Broward Crime Stoppers.
With Holloway now extradited to Broward County, all five suspects identified in the case have been apprehended.
As of Thursday morning, Holloway, Aamir Adams and Anthony Adams were being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
