The shooting happened at around 2 a.m. on June 10 at the home of Ashley Marie Hosendove, 32, off Northwest First Court near 16th Street. She was initially arrested on an unrelated charge afterward.

According to an arrest report, the girl, who was identified by a family member as Janova Park, suffered gunshot wounds to her stomach and torso and was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she later died.

Hosendove told Florida City police officers that Janova’s 4-year-old brother pulled the trigger, according to an arrest report.

“Due to the fact that (Hosendove) neglected to secure the firearm properly and displayed a conscious indifference of the welfare of her children, which resulted in the death of the victim, (she) was charged with one count of aggravated manslaughter of a child and one count of culpable negligence,” Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Detective Paulo Klimick Pereira concluded in the report.

As of Thursday morning, the South Carolina-born Hosendove was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records show.
