MIAMI — A 31-year-old man armed with an AR-15–style rifle threatened his neighbor after an argument in the elevator of a 48-story luxury condominium in downtown Miami, according to a police officer’s report.
Surveillance video shows Anthony Governale and his neighbor arguing at Ten Museum Park at 1040 Biscayne Boulevard, and both walking out of the elevator on the 12th floor, according to the police report.
Governale was out on a felony bond after he was accused of resisting arrest, public intoxication, and screaming racial slurs in December at the Palm Tree Club in North Bay Village, records show.
On Thursday, Governale and his neighbor took their argument from the elevator and into the hallway, according to police.
The victim ”told [Governale] that if they couldn’t resolve the issue, they could physically fight,” a police officer wrote, according to the report.
The victim reported that Governale went into his unit, returned with the rifle, and pointed it at him, according to the police report.
Governale said “he never pointed his PCC rifle at the victim,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Police officers arrested Governale shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday at Ten Museum Park, and corrections booked him shortly before midnight at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, records show.
Governale faced a charge of attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was $2,500.
