MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Smoke continued to fill the air over southwest Miami-Dade Friday evening as a brush fire burned through the Everglades.

The clouds of smoke could be seen billowing over the trees, with Sky 10 capturing the intensity of the flames as they moved through the land.

It’s the latest brush fire to burn across South Florida during a busy wildfire season that has already scorched hundreds of thousands of acres.

The flames also moved close to Krome Avenue, keeping first responders on alert.

Police shut down the southbound lanes Friday evening as crews worked to contain the blaze.

One concern is what conditions could look like the next morning. Heavy smoke and haze could make it difficult for drivers to see, adding to the reason for the road closure.

The latest fire has burned only a couple hundred acres so far, but it’s still having a major impact.

The Radio Tower Fire is currently 188 acres and 50% contained.

The Trail Fire is 25 acres and 80% contained.
