Hallandale Beach police said the crash happened shortly before midnight July 18 in the 600 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

In the video, a person can be seen walking across the street as a white car approaches. The driver, who police identified as Francesca Yesbick, struck the pedestrian, then continued driving away from the scene, according to investigators.

Police say the victim suffered serious injuries but survived.

The surveillance footage became a key part of the investigation. Detectives reviewed city cameras and used license plate reader technology to track down the vehicle and identify the driver.

Police said Yesbick, 37, later called 911 and reported seeing “a man get hit by a car in Hallandale.” During that call, she allegedly described the vehicle as a green Honda but couldn’t confirm the address of where the incident occurred.

But the surveillance video told a different story, showing a white vehicle involved in the crash.

After nearly a month of investigation, police say Yesbick turned herself in to the Hallandale Beach Police Department.

Jail records show she was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

But it was the surveillance video that helped investigators piece together what happened — capturing the crash, the vehicle and the moment the driver allegedly fled.
