BSO investigating hit-and-run crash involving scooter in Lighthouse Point

LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla. — Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and a scooter in Lighthouse Point, according to police.

Lighthouse Point police confirmed that the crash happened at approximately 9:25 p.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of North Federal Highway.

Police said officers responded to the scene and found that the crash involved a vehicle and a scooter.

Because of the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash, the investigation was turned over to BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit, police said.

Lighthouse Point police said they assisted with traffic control while BSO investigators processed the scene.

Authorities have not released information about the person who was injured, the extent of their injuries or a description of the vehicle believed to have left the scene.

North Federal Highway has since reopened to traffic.

The investigation remains ongoing.
