MIAMI — A woman charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend in Hialeah several years ago has learned her fate after entering a guilty plea.
Police said Karina Corbalan shot her boyfriend, Alejandro Sanchez, more than a dozen times over an argument about their relationship.
On Monday, a judge sentenced Corbalan to 25 years behind bars followed by 10 years of probation.
During the hearing, Corbalan apologized to Sanchez’s family and said that she loved him.
The shooting occurred in March of 2020 in the area of West 58th Street and 21st Avenue.
Police said officers arrived to the scene to find Corbalan kneeling over Sanchez’s body.
His family remains devastated over the shooting.
“We’ve sat here for six years and she’s never acknowledged, and now she wants to say she loved him? That’s not love. You murdered him,” said Amy Sanchez, Alejandro’s mother. “You killed my baby, and I can never forgive that.”
