HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning near Laura C. Saunders Elementary School in Homestead, authorities confirmed.

A detective told Local 10’s Jolena Esperto that the shooting happened near the intersection of Southwest Sixth Street and 328th Avenue.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene as police investigated. The area was taped off, and a yellow tarp covered what police said was the body of the victim.

The shooting was reported near several businesses, including a food mart and a beauty supply store.

No other details about the victim, a possible suspect or the circumstances surrounding the shooting were immediately released.
