According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect, Andres Gonzalez, and he was located in Puerto Rico with the assistance of U.S. marshals.

He is now awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade County.

According to MDSO, deputies were called to a home, located in the 26100 block of Southwest 209th Avenue, shortly after 8:30 a.m. on June 19 after receiving a report about an unconscious woman.

When deputies arrived, they found Esther Liontos, 58, lying on the ground outside the home, authorities said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel.

Deputies said they found Liontos’ partner, Roger Arredondo Gonzalez, 61, lying on the ground nearby. He too was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed how the two were killed and an arrest report was not immediately available for Gonzalez.

A motive for the killings remains unclear.

A relative of Liontos told Local 10 in June that the family was trying to make sense of what happened as they navigate their immense grief, confusion, anger and desire for justice.

That relative described the couple as “wonderful people who loved their family.”
