Dozens of baby sea turtles recently ended up in the pool of an Islamorada home after being led astray by the home's bright lights.

ISLAMORADA, Fla. — A Florida Keys family found dozens of unexpected visitors in their backyard pool after baby sea turtles became disoriented and ended up in the chlorinated water.

A total of 64 hatchlings recently made their way into the pool at the Islamorada home after apparently being led astray by the home’s bright lights.

Knowing the baby turtles would not survive in the chlorinated water, the homeowners contacted The Turtle Hospital for help.

All 64 hatchlings were rescued and taken to the facility, where they were cleaned up and given nourishment.

After spending several days recovering, the turtles were ready to return to the wild.

The hatchlings were released into the ocean, where they could be seen swimming away in the Gulf Stream — turning an unexpected backyard discovery into a successful rescue story.
