POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Deputies arrested a 53-year-old suspect who was accused of shooting a man on Thursday night at a gas station in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
During their investigation, deputies detained Zalim Bacchus at the Marathon gas station, at 220 South Dixie Highway, after finding a man wounded, according to BSO.
Deputies reported Bacchus and the victim had “an altercation” before the shooting. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel also responded. The victim required hospitalization, according to BSO.
Broward corrections booked Bacchus on Friday morning at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, according to inmate records.
Bacchus, of Pompano Beach, faced a charge of aggravated battery, a first-degree felony, and Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Lynch was set to preside over the capital case, according to county court records.
