Florida Keys fishing captain released from hospital following lightning strike

ISLAMORADA, Fla. — A Florida Keys fishing captain who was struck by lightning last week has been released from the hospital.

Rick Stanczyk, 44, was on the water early Thursday morning when he was struck.

Members of his crew immediately jumped in to help Stanczyk, performing CPR until Islamorada paramedics arrived, officials said.

He was rushed by helicopter to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

Officials now say Stanczyk is expected to make a full recovery.
