MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old Miami-Dade woman was arrested Tuesday after authorities said she struck a victim several times with a wooden plank and battered two children during an altercation at her home.
The suspect was identified in an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office as Stephanie Patrice Stanley.
Deputies said the incident happened Aug. 8 at her home near the 28,000 block of Southwest 126th Court in Miami-Dade’s Princeton area.
The report states that deputies were dispatched to the home at about 8:11 p.m. in reference to a fight involving injuries.
Depuites said they spoke to the victim who said she had been struck in the back several times with a 2-by-4 wood plank.
They said the victim was taken to Jackson South Medical Center for treatment.
The report states that investigators later received several videos showing the incident. According to the report, one video showed Stanley striking the victim in the back with a wooden plank four times.
Deputies said several other videos showed Stanley battering two children during the altercation.
After being advised of her Miranda rights, Stanley admitted to striking the victim with a wooden plank and battering the children, according to the report. She told investigators she was unaware that both kids were under the age of 18, deputies said.
Jail records show Stanley is facing one count of aggravated battery and two counts of child abuse without great bodily harm.
As of Wednesday morning, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed as “to be set.”
Deputies did not release the relationship between the suspect and victims, and the reason for the altercation remains unclear.
