PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A 36-year-old man faced 44 charges on Friday in Miami-Dade and Broward counties after detectives accused him of stealing fuel from gas stations in Pembroke Pines and Hialeah, records show.
Jose Bravo surrendered to Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies at noon on Thursday at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, records show.
Bravo, who lives in Hialeah, was driving a black Chevrolet pickup truck when he stole fuel on July 6 from the 7-Eleven at 6460 Pines Boulevard, according to Pembroke Pines police officers.
“The eight separate incidents cost the victim business approximately 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel, totaling approximately $8,000,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
A detective accused Bravo of stealing fuel on July 6, on July 9, on July 14, on July 21, on July 24, on July 27, on Aug. 5, and on Aug. 7, according to the report.
A Hialeah detective also arrested Bravo over nine fuel thefts at other 7-Eleven gas stations in Hialeah and seized Bravo’s truck with a 150-diesel fuel tank, records show.
West Palm Beach police officers arrested Bravo after a detective accused him of stealing about $1,090 in fuel in July 2024 from a Wawa gas station at 2370 45th St., records show.
The 44 charges
In Miami-Dade County, Bravo faced 11 charges: Nine counts of petit theft, a misdemeanor; and two felonies, obtaining fuel fraudulently and transporting fuel without a license. His bond was $14,500.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge David H. Young was presiding over the case.
In Broward County, Bravo faced 33 charges: Grand theft of $5,000 or more, a third-degree felony; eight counts of obtaining fuel by fraud, a third-degree felony; eight counts of unlawful conveyance of fuel, a third-degree felony; eight counts of transporting fuel without a license, a first-degree misdemeanor; and eight counts of larceny - motor vehicle drive off, a second-degree misdemeanor.
Broward County Circuit Judge Lorena V. Mastrarrigo was presiding over the case.
