MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Two twin brothers are each facing felony charges after Miami-Dade deputies accused them of shooting at least two people with paintball rounds in the county’s unincorporated Naranja area in mid-August.
Deputies said the 22-year-old twins, Ernest Germain Flowers and Evan Germain Flowers, committed the attacks while out on bond for attempted murder in connection with a 2022 shooting in a Dadeland Mall parking garage, when they were 18.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Naranja Lakes Park, located at 14401 SW 272nd St., at around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 after a reported shooting with paintball pellets and found a woman “who sustained multiple considerable injuries to her leg, which required treatment by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.”
While responding, they said they received another call about a man shot with paintball pellets while sitting on a bus bench at Southwest 264th Street and South Dixie Highway.
Both reported seeing the suspects pull up to them in a silver SUV and open fire, deputies said.
Investigators said surveillance footage and “investigative means” allowed them to track down “a license plate for the involved vehicle, possible residence and persons of interest.”
Police said the woman was able to identify Ernest Flowers as the shooter after picking him out of a photo lineup.
Authorities said they found the brothers on Wednesday and took them into custody on charges of felony battery, misdemeanor battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
They said the two are suspected in multiple other “similar incidents.”
Both men were being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after being given bonds of $12,001. However, they’ll remain held after being ordered to face a division judge, records show.
