MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A person has died after a fiery crash in southwest Miami-Dade early Saturday, authorities confirmed.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Southwest 184th Street.

The individual’s age, gender, or identity has not been released at this time.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene where a pickup truck involved in the crash was left heavily damaged, with its front end torn apart and debris scattered across the roadway. The vehicle also caught fire.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies and fire rescue crews responded to the crash and remained at the scene Saturday morning.

Investigators blocked off part of the roadway as they worked to determine what led to the crash.

One man who was at a nearby gas station when the crash occurred said he heard a loud noise and explosion.

No other details about the crash were immediately released.
