Fort Lauderdale police are investigating after shots were reportedly fired early Saturday morning, prompting officers to block off a street for several hours as detectives examined the scene and spoke with neighbors.
Police responded shortly after 2 a.m. to a report of shots fired near Northwest Eighth Avenue and16th Street.
More than five hours later, police tape remained stretched across the area, with patrol cars blocking access to Northwest 8th Avenue near Northwest 16th Street.
Detectives were seen walking through the area, taking photographs and marking what appeared to be evidence on the ground.
Investigators also spoke with several neighbors about what they may have seen or heard before and after the gunfire was reported.
The scene is a few blocks north of Sunrise Boulevard and east of Interstate 95.
Police had not immediately released details about what led to the gunfire, whether anyone was injured or who may have been involved.
