MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 19-year-old woman from Miami-Dade County was arrested last week after deputies said she extorted a man after discovering that he had a girlfriend for the entire time they were dating.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Nathalie Rodriguez Gonzalez was taken into custody Friday on a charge of threats/extortion.
Deputies said Rodriguez Gonzalez met the victim while working as a waitress at a restaurant and the two began a romantic relationship shortly after.
According to the report, after going on a few dates, Rodriguez Gonzalez discovered that the man had a girlfriend for the “entire time they were together.”
Deputies said Rodriguez Gonzalez then began sending threatening text messages to the man, demanding $20,000 from him, and warning that if he didn’t send her the money, she would add an additional $5,000 to her demand for payment, and she would send his intimate photos to his girlfriend and business partner. She also claimed that she would post the photos across all of her social media accounts, deputies said.
According to the report, the victim refused to pay Rodriguez Gonzalez, and she made good on her threat to send one of the photos to his business partner.
Deputies said she asked the business partner for the victim’s girlfriend’s phone number so she could also send her the photo and asked, “Should I post this on my IG and tag everyone??”
Rodriguez Gonzalez then sent the photo to the victim’s girlfriend, telling her, “This will genuinely get posted if he doesn’t wire me money BTW,” the report stated.
According to the report, the scorned woman ultimately posted a censored version of the photo to her TikTok page, along with other photos, and continued sending threatening messages, such as “Give me my money or I (will) escalate this worse,” “The deportation does not have to happen, but I want my money,” and “If he doesn’t wire me the money, his d*** will get posted followed by your face, his face.”
In another text message thread, Rodriguez Gonzalez wrote, “Remember I was tryna scam him, Im finally getting to it,” the report stated.
According to the report, the victim responded to the MDSO Kendall District station on Aug. 24 and identified Rodriguez Gonzalez in a photo.
Deputies said the woman was taken into custody Friday at her home and was transported to the police station for questioning, where she gave a “full confession.”
As of Monday morning, Rodriguez Gonzalez remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond.
