HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A now-former South Florida mental health therapy intern working in Homestead was involved in an inappropriate, sexual relationship with a client, authorities said.
Police arrested Michelle Luchau-Rebora, 32, of Pinecrest, on Wednesday after she turned herself in at the Homestead Police Department, which investigated the case alongside the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
According to official documents, Luchau-Rebora was working as an intern at the New Home CORPS alcohol and drug treatment facility, located at 1020 N. Krome Ave., “in the capacity of a mental health therapist”, when, in June of last year, she started a sexual relationship with a client.
Authorities said Luchau-Rebora would engage in sexual activity during therapy sessions while at the facility, adding that she also “facilitated alibis on his behalf, which allowed him authorization to leave the restricted facility and engage in sexual intercourse on multiple occasions,” at several locations, including her home, her mother’s home in Key Biscayne and at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
According to deputies, Luchau-Rebora “demanded that he not tell anyone about their relationship because it will affect her ability to work as a therapist.”
Based off Luchau-Rebora’s arrest reports, the victim reported the inappropriate affair to the facility after she ended the relationship and she was subsequently fired.
She is now facing felony charges of sexual misconduct by a psychotherapist.
As of Wednesday morning, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
