MDSO deputy injured after lightning strike in Doral

DORAL, Fla. — First responders rushed to the scene of a reported lightning strike on Thursday.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. near the headquarters for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue located at 9300 NW 41st St. in Doral.

According to officials, rescue crews responded after receiving reports of a car that had been struck by lightning.

Investigators said an off-duty deputy was sitting inside his vehicle working an assignment when it was struck by lightning.

The deputy was taken by MDFR to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition.
