MARGATE, Fla. — Friends and family are rallying around a father mourning the loss of his wife and 2-year-old daughter after they were struck and killed by lightning.

Kameron Glasgow is dealing with what he calls an unimaginable loss.

Last month, Glasgow’s family was heading to his aunt’s home for dinner on Northwest 1st Street in Margate when lightning struck his wife, 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow, and their 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi.

They both died at separate hospitals.

“I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it,” Glasgow said. “It’s one in a million.”

Glasgow and Kenya were high school sweethearts. He said she was his rock and inspiration.

“My wife’s biggest thing all her life since I’ve been in her life is feel your feelings and press on because you have to get those emotions out to recenter yourself,” he said. “So I got my emotions out and I’m recentered now. I’m good for right now.”

Friends and family gathered Friday night at a Fort Lauderdale funeral home for a public visitation.

“It’s just a testament to how my wife is,” Glasgow said. “Everybody’s saying how we were as a unit, just a good couple, a good family.”

Glasgow said he wants people to remember Kenya as someone who was always full of life and willing to help others.

“I pray for everyone to remember her as the life of the party, the one that always wants to help, and never wanted anything in return,” he said.

Kenya and Kennedi leave behind Kennsli, Kennedi’s twin.

“We’ve already started working on letting her know, hey mommy and sissy, they’re in heaven, so she can point up to heaven and say hi to them,” Glasgow said.

As he begins to process the loss, Glasgow has a message for others.

“Be careful, if it’s out there, just get inside pretty much,” he said. “But also don’t let this situation deter you from how you normally live your life. Be safer, but don’t walk around in fear. That’s not okay. Remain you.”

The celebration of life is set for Saturday at noon.
