COCONUT CREEK, Fla. — A 44-year-old Kissimmee man was arrested by troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol after they said he pointed a gun at another driver during a road-rage incident on Florida’s Turnpike in Coconut Creek this past weekend.
The incident happened Saturday at about 7:20 p.m. Troopers said they responded to a report of a traffic accident and road-rage incident involving two drivers.
According to an arrest report, Anthony Moreno was driving a gray Dodge Ram and the other driver was in a gray Ford F-150. The victim told troopers that Moreno “intentionally slammed on his brakes in order to stop him,” the report states.
Troopers said the incident led to a pursuit.
They said the victim claimed that after he was stopped in traffic because of Moreno’s pursuit, he saw Moreno pointing a small black gun directly at him.
The victim told troopers he feared for his life and believed Moreno “might kill him,” according to the report. He also said Moreno appeared to mouth words to the effect of, “Pull over, imma f***in kill you!” the report states.
Moreno later told troopers that he pointed the gun toward the victim’s tires “just to scare” him, according to the report.
Troopers said after the victim fled once again, Moreno pointed the gun at him and boxed in his vehicle. They said the victim was eventually stopped on the right shoulder of the Florida Turnpike near mile marker 73 in Coconut Creek.
Troopers said Moreno made a confession, but that portion of his arrest report was redacted.
Jail records show he was facing one count of improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon.
As of Friday morning, Moreno was no longer listed as an inmate in the Broward County jail records system.
