POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A Hollywood man facing a charge in Miami-Dade County in connection with a case in which authorities said he was intercepting and stealing high-value FedEx packages on behalf of a Russian fraud group is now suspected of a similar crime in Broward County.
Authorities said the Broward crime happened on May 13 in Pompano Beach, a day before Vladimir Kudyakov, 43, was suspected of stealing a Rolex in Doral and a week before he would be arrested at a downtown Miami FedEx store as police said he attempted to “fraudulently retrieve another package.”
He had been suspected of stealing a package containing a $53,500 Rolex at a Doral FedEx Office Print & Ship Center on May 14.
He initially faced multiple felony charges, though, as of Friday, Miami-Dade court records showed that only a charge of possessing or making equipment to counterfeit drivers licenses remained.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said in the Pompano Beach incident, Kudyakov went to the victim’s condominium building and gave a FedEx driver fake identity documents matching the victim’s personal information in order to steal a $7,190 Rolex Datejust watch.
Hollywood police took him into custody on grand theft and identity theft charges on Wednesday, records show.
He no longer appeared in Broward jail records as of Friday.
