BRICKELL, Fla. — Miami police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a deadly stabbing at a Brickell high-rise Friday night.

Stefano Cremasco-Cicero is charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found stabbed to death inside his apartment.

Police say the man charged and the victim knew each other, though it’s not clear what their relationship was.

Police say the victim was at his apartment when she was stabbed to death.

Cremasco-Cicero told police he was defending himself.

Police were called to the building shortly after 4:45 a.m. Investigators say Cremasco-Cicero had blood on his shoes, clothes and hands.

When officers went to the 47th floor, they said they found a woman lying on her side, fully clothed, covered in blood and suffering from multiple stab wounds.

“It was super scary,” said Zach Carson, a resident.

Carson said he went back into his apartment, locked his balcony door and looked through the peephole for about 10 minutes before taking the stairs 47 floors down.

Police used surveillance video from the building to help make the arrest.

Preliminary reports indicated the stabbing might be a domestic case.

A person who spoke with police said Cremasco-Cicero was under a lot of stress because of the opening of a new restaurant in Coconut Grove.

A Brickell resident said he was surprised by the police presence.

“I was driving up and down the street. I see police, I see news and I’m like, what’s going on?” Sebastian said.

Investigators say Cremasco-Cicero called police after the stabbing, but video evidence from the building helped lead to his arrest and charge.

The victim has not been identified.
