KEY WEST, Fla. - Budget cuts may be grounding the Blue Angels until September.

The Navy's elite fighter jets flew over Key West Saturday in the Southernmost Air Spectacular. It could be the last show until September 30th. The Defense Department says the possible hiatus is due to federal budget cuts.

According to Secretary Robert Hale of the Department of Defense all aerial demonstrations in civilian air shows and military open houses scheduled from April 1st onward, have been cut.

Navy officials say Congress has agreed to finance the shows that will be missed, but it's still unclear if the Blue Angels will fly this summer.

The Angel's flight leader, Commander Tom Frosch says he hopes their presence can continue since it's plays an important role in the Navy's recruiting efforts.
