BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - City workers in Fort Lauderdale have isolated a water main break that shut off water to 250,000 customers in Broward County Saturday night.

The main broke at around 8 p.m. on Northeast 38 Street between Northeast 5th and 6th avenues in Oakland Park.

Once water is restored, a precautionary boil water notice has been issued for Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Oakland Park, Port Everglades Authority, Village of Sea Ranch Lakes, Wilton Manors and sections of Davie and Tamarac.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office is asking the public not to call 911 unless they have an emergency. Right now, operators are being overwhelmed with phone calls due to the break.

For further information, please call the City of Fort Lauderdale 24-hour Customer Service Center at (954) 828-8000.
