HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A fashion designer is using recycle materials to breathe new life into women's clothing.
"Using recycled materials, it's important to me," said Kayce Armstrong, who owns The Shade Post in Hollywood. "The Shade Post has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Our motto is adopt, sustain, evolve."

Armstrong uses eco-materials and recyclables to create dresses, jackets, hats, and shoes for her Art of Shade clothing label.
"This is a material that I'm really excited about. It's really cool. It's really interesting because it's made out of 100 percent thermoplastic polyurethane," she said about a material often used in tubing.
The clothing is made in South Florida. Some pieces use water bottles, trash cans, or even scraps of tarp.
"This is tarp and these are all recycled materials," said Armstrong. "The inside is made from different cut-up shorts and pants. I like surprises on the inside."
Armstrong said she dreamed of becoming a designer when she was a child. She and her sister made jewelry from recycled wire.
"I get emotional about it," she said. "It's one thing to have a dream but to actually be living it, it's really cool."
Armstrong worked with designers worldwide and was a fit model for Georgio Armani before creating her own brand.
Armstrong's designs will be on display during Miami Fashion Week.
