Family digging through ashes after Miramar house fire

Fire started by child playing with matches

MIRAMAR, Fla. - A Miramar family is left sorting through the ashes after its home was destroyed in a fire.

"Everything is lost," Marie Adrien told Local 10 News on Friday.

Adrien was at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where she was accompanying her husband. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a rise in blood pressure.

A 19-year-old, two children and their blind grandfather were the only ones home at the time of Thursday's fire.

Firefighters said the fire was started by a child playing with matches.

Now, just days before school begins, the children are left with nothing.

Anyone who wishes to help the family can make a donation to the American Red Cross by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or visiting Mention the donation is for the Adrien family.
