DAVIE, Fla. – Dolphins veteran Dan Carpenter has been kicked to the curb.
The Fins released the veteran kicker Wednesday afternoon.

The former pro bowl kicker has been in a training camp battle with rookie Caleb Sturgis.
The rookie from the University of Florida will now step into that critical role.
General Manager Jeff Ireland said, "On behalf of the Miami Dolphins, I would like to thank Dan for his contributions he has made as a member of the organization. For the past five season has been a tireless worker on the field while devoting countless hours of his time off the field to the betterment of the South Florida community."
