FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Surveillance cameras were rolling as a robber threatened a gas station employee with a tire iron last month.

The robbery occurred just before 10 p.m. June 23 at a Shell gas station in the 1400 block of East Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

On the surveillance video, the robber can be heard screaming, and the clerk can be heard begging for his life. Police said the masked thief ran behind the counter, armed with a tire iron, and threatened the employee, who begged the robber not to strike him.

The employee opened the cash register, and the robber grabbed as much cash as possible and escaped.

The robber wore black shorts, a black, long-sleeved T-shirt and black gloves.

The experience was so traumatic that the employee quit his job.

No arrests have been made.
