Swap Shop reaches counterfeit settlement with Louis Vuitton

Owner previously reached $5.5 million settlement with Coach over vendors selling knockoffs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The owner of the Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale has reached a settlement with luxury brand Louis Vuitton more than a year after reaching a $5.5 million settlement with Coach.

Terms of the latest settlement, finalized in federal court Tuesday, were confidential.

Both brands sued the Swap Shop, claiming that its owner, Preston Henn, was not policing vendors who were selling knockoffs.

Henn told Local 10 News reporter Neki Mohan that there will be a change at his business.

The lawsuit filed in federal court last year accused the swap shop and its owners of contributing to the violation of valuable trademarks by repeatedly turning a blind eye to vendors who sold designer fakes at the flea market.

Henn said he is going to do everything to enforce new rules on the vendors at the Swap Shop.

"There's a lot of things we're going to do differently about anybody selling counterfeit Louis Vuitton or Coach (items)," Henn said. "There's a lot more stuff that we can do now."
