PLANTATION, Fla. – Plantation Middle School students bought Christmas presents for a woman who had her children's gifts stolen from their apartment.
"From the bottom of my heart, I'm so appreciative to you guys to take that initiative," said Shina Jean-Baptiste.
Jean-Baptiste's apartment, where she lives with her two children, was ransacked two weekends ago. But a teacher organized his students to buy them gifts.
"We do know that things happen and all things happen for whatever reason, but (we) do know that there are people out here for you and we wish the best for you and hope that everything is intact now," said teacher Danny Young, who organized the gift giving.
"It's perfect. I'm speechless. It's beyond perfect," said Jean-Baptiste.
Toys, stuffed animals, and sports gear was piled high on the school stage ready to go home with Clifford, 3, and A'Marie, 7.
"I felt kind of happy that I'm getting all these presents," said A'Marie.
"It just means so much to me. It shows me how much compassion the world still has, especially at a time where there are so many problems in the world. I really do appreciate it. It makes you believe, that's what it does," said Jean-Baptiste. "It makes you believe."
