MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - The Miami Beach Police Department is searching for a would-be robber who approached a jeweler in the parking garage of the Deauville Hotel Tuesday morning.

According to detectives, two jewelers were leaving the hotel shortly after 9 a.m. when one of the jewelers walked ahead to grab their car.

Police said a newer-model silver Nissan then pulled up alongside the other man who was carrying two suitcases. A man got out of the car and threatened the jeweler with a knife.

The jeweler who had gone to get their car spotted the thief as he was coming down the ramp and rammed the back of the robber's car with his car, police said.

The thieves fled the scene and did not get away with any jewelry.

No injuries were reported in the attempted robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
