Man killed in collision involving Miami-Dade Transit bus

Luisdan Menendez, 24, identified as driver of Ford Mustang split in half

MIAMI – A man was killed Sunday in a three-vehicle collision involving a Miami-Dade Transit bus, police said.

Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome said Luisdan Menendez, 24, was driving a Ford Mustang east on West Flager Street at 50th Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. when he somehow lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and struck the bus. The impact sent the Mustang crashing into a Toyota Corolla that was traveling west on Flagler Street.

Menendez was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were about 40 people on the bus at the time, but no one was injured. The driver of the Corolla also wasn't injured.

The Mustang was split in half.

"Speed may have been a factor here," Colome said.
