Police officer injured in Miami crash

MIAMI – A Miami police officer was injured Thursday afternoon in a crash, authorities confirmed.

The crash was reported in the area of Douglas Road and Loquat Avenue.

Police said the crash occurred while the officer was in the area providing backup for someone who was the subject of a Baker Act. 

Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the officer was in stable condition.

The officer was being treated for a leg injury.
