Philip De Falco is accused of shooting a man at the Hialeah Star Motel.

HIALEAH, Fla. - A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Hialeah motel.

Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby said Hialeah Motel Star attendant Philip De Falco shot Roger Tucker during an argument that turned physical outside the motel office Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, De Falco told police he shot Tucker in self-defense. But police said surveillance video and witness statements contradicted his story.

Zogby said De Falco surrendered to police when officers arrived.

Tucker was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was recovering from surgery. Zogby said Tucker was a temporary resident of the motel.

De Falco faces one count of second-degree attempted murder.
