University of Miami pitcher achieves perfection

Javi Salas throws perfect game while brother calls radio play-by-play

MIAMI - University of Miami pitcher Javi Salas achieved perfection Tuesday night.

Twenty-seven batters up, 27 batters down, he threw a perfect game against Villanova University.

"I've been here four years and never experienced anything like that," Salas said. "It was an incredible feeling. I've told guys before that I've never thrown a perfect game or a no-hitter at any level, so yesterday was a great experience."

As if Salas' night could get any better, the voice behind the radio play-by-play that night belonged to his younger brother, Jorge Salas.

"It was shocking," Jorge said. "First time calling one of his games and it was a perfect game. Some people don't get the chance to call a perfect game ever in their lives and I was lucky enough to call my brother's perfect game."

"That was probably cooler than the game itself," Javi said. "I got emotional putting on a headset and my brother was interviewing me. That was an awesome experience."

On the mound and in the radio booth, it was a perfect night for the Salas brothers.
