FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol cited a 37-year-old Lauderdale Lakes man who was involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 95 on January 2.

Romial Romeus was charged with careless driving, FHP announced Tuesday.

According to FHP, Romeus sideswiped another car just south of Hillsboro Boulevard. The second car hit a Lexus sport utility vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and drive into a lake.

The occupants of the Lexus SUV -- Sandalie Jean Baptiste, 20; Guivens Daverman, 16; Nadege Theodore, 37; and, her daughter Lyn, 15 -- were killed in the crash. The four were returning from the Town Center at Boca Raton.

Divers immediately recovered the bodies of Jean Baptiste, Daverman, and Nadege Theodore. Lyn Theodore's body was found the next day. Jean Baptiste died several days later at Broward Health North.

FHP released 911 calls showing operators having a hard time pinpointing the location of the crash.
