Antonio Wilcox charged with second-degree murder in death of Michelle Wilcox

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police say a man has been charged with second-degree murder after he confessed to shooting and killing his wife near a northwest Miami-Dade County preschool.

Local 10 learned earlier this week Michelle Wilcox, 33, was a well-liked teacher at a charter school in Miami.

Miami-Dade police said Michelle Wilcox was arguing with a man at a home near the preschool when he pulled out a gun, chased her down and shot her, leaving her body in a grassy swale.

An arrest warrant for Antonio Wilcox, Michelle Wilcox's husband, was obtained Friday in the second-degree murder of Michelle Wilcox, according to Miami-Dade police.

Miami-Dade police said the shooting was domestic-related. Michelle and Antonio Wilcox had been married for 12 years and have a child.

Antonio Wilcox was located Friday and brought to the Homicide Bureau Office for questioning. Pursuant to Miranda, police said Antonio Wilcox confessed to shooting and killing his wife.

Antonio Wilcox was charged with second-degree murder and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
